Learning Strategy: Pre-Licensing Program Redesign

Overview

Allstate hired me because of my experience in test preparation and program redesign. The company’s low pre-licensing pass rate had increased the need for additional hiring and onboarding.

Learning Strategy

I began by meeting with stakeholders to understand the program from several perspectives. I also completed the pre-licensing process myself so I could evaluate the learner experience directly.

What I found was a program built around independent study, with limited learner interaction and few structured support materials. In response, I redesigned the pre-licensing experience to give learners a clearer structure and stronger support.

I shortened the pre-licensing portion from four weeks to three and established a two-attempt limit. I then built the instructional materials the program was missing, including presentations, quizzes, and study supports. I also added personal coaching and used tools such as YouTube and PowerPoint to reinforce learning.

After launch, I continued to monitor employee feedback and performance data so I could refine the program as needed.
